Engineering Solutions for Armed Forces

The Military Tactical Trailer Suspension is proven to meet the mobility requirements for tactical vehicles fitted with independent suspensions, without reducing vehicle top speed. The suspension was developed specifically for military operation and provides a unique combination of trailing arm and high articulation walking beam technology. The combination delivers high roll stiffness with low vertical stiffness. Additionally, over 2,000 Link tactical trailer suspensions are in service with the British Army, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, and NASA.

Key features of the Military TTS are durability and reliability; two features demonstrated in the USMC MTVR Trailer Program. The suspension underwent five years of grueling testing before being approved for fielding with active units in the U.S. Marines. Additionally, the USMC performed multiple extensive forms of hands-on testing, including a simulation where soldiers successfully performed all required tasks after only an hour of training.

Not only did the Military TTS confirm compliance with the USMC, but also has shown to be the most durable trailer fielded by the Canadian Army’s truck and MSVS trailer combination. Extensive testing was undertaken to prove compliance of the suspension for the Canadian Army, some of which involved the trailer being fully submerged in a river, before being dragged to shore and hauled at highway speeds.

Features

  • A rendering of the Military TTS, featuring the RAM-D proven design

    Meets RAM-D Requirements

The durability of the design is RAM-D proven and is fully submersible without preparation up to 1,525mm (60 inches).

  • A rendering of the Military TTS displaying how it meets MTBMF requirements

    Meets MTBMF Requirements

The suspension has a high level of redundancy, only four moving parts, and the ability to continue operation with air springs deflated in both laden and unladen conditions.

  • A rendering of the Military TTS featuring the minimal ILS footprint

    Meets Integrated Logistic Support Requirements

The components are symmetrical where possible reducing the ILS footprint to a minimum. Each part is replaceable at the unit level using standard tools.

  • A rendering of the Military TTS featuring the walking beams with skid shoes

    Walking Beam With Skid Shoes

The trailers walking beams and skid shoes support the laden weight of the trailer. Additionally, the skid shoes protect the trailers brake system from hazardous terrain and debris.

  • A rendering of the Military TTS featuring the air springs

    Mission Capable Air Springs

The air springs contain an internal rubber jounce stop, which will support a tactical trailer during airless operation. This feature allows the tailer to be mission capable with less than two inches in drop.

  • A rendering of the Military TTS featuring the polyurethane bushings

    Polyurethane Bushings

The anti-corrosive polyurethane provides durability and minimal maintenance. The polyurethane bushings do not require grease and the bar pin end bushing shims allow for easy alignment.
