Link Introduces 35,000 Lb. Capacity Drive Suspension
NISKU, AB and SIOUX CENTER, IA, April 22, 2015— Link Suspensions of Canada, LP, in partnership with Link Manufacturing, Ltd. today announced the introduction of the Atlas™ Drive Suspension for fire truck applications. Atlas™ is the only suspension of its kind rated up to 35,000 lb. capacity. Current options in the market offer a top capacity of 31,000 lbs. The added load capability will enable pumpers and aerials to increase their carrying capacity without restricting their storage limits. Initial configurations are available for Dana and Meritor axles.
The Atlas™ expands Link’s reliable Air Link® tandem drive fire suspension offering to include a single axle platform. The key features of Atlas™ include: trailing arms with provision for a sway bar, ensuring a high degree of roll stability; dual height-control valves to maintain optimum ride height, independent of load; and polyurethane bushings for reduced maintenance. Additionally, the air springs provide a smoother ride for drivers in both on-road and off-road situations.
“Fire Apparatus Manufacturers have long been searching for higher capacity options in a single axle suspension, and we’ve responded by introducing the highest capacity on the market,” said Benjamin Langton, Heavy Vocational Sales Manager at Link Manufacturing. “With our long history of engineering tandem drive suspensions for the fire industry, the Atlas is the next step in offering greater capacity without sacrificing safety.” The Atlas™ will be showcased at FDIC International.
