REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES

Intern Blake

BLAKE J.
MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

“My favorite memory about working at Link was being able to go out onto the production floor and work with operators and see what they need and how they do things on a day-to-day basis. I received a lot of guidance in trying to understand the whole workflow. My supervisors helped me understand why Link did things to a certain standard. Everybody at Link is extremely friendly and more than willing to help if I had any question.”

Intern Eric

ERIC B.
DESIGN ENGINEER

“I was involved with the design of the new service kits. I was pretty open-mind as for what to expect since this was my first internship. I had the opportunity to work with engineering software and learned a lot more about engineering because there was so much we didn’t even touch in college. Link being in the automotive field really taught me industry standards which I can carry over in my career.”

JUNIOR AT UNIVERSITY OF IOWA

Intern Katie

KATIE T.
ACCOUNTING INTERN

“Link provides a really great learning experience. Your coworkers are very helpful, and you can ask questions at any time from anyone. I immediately felt like part of the team and learned how to carry out my job with the help of the entire staff. I was able to do a wide variety of things and enjoyed learning how to work for and with international companies.”

Intern Conner

CONNER P.
QUALITY ENGINEER

“I enjoyed the number of times I was able to work on cross-functional teams as well as being able to work with full-time product engineers and manufacturing engineers. I enjoyed having the opportunity to sit in on meaningful meetings and actually be asked to give input and share my thoughts. When I first started, I was just gathering data, and my supervisor would be the one to analyze it and present it. The longer I was here, I transitioned to being the one interpreting and presenting the data instead. Coming in, I was expecting to just be sitting behind a desk, but I actually did a lot of hands-on work. I feel incredibly prepared for whatever job I take next. 95% of what I’ll use at my next job I have learned at Link and not in a classroom.”

SENIOR AT DORDT UNIVERSITY

Intern Daniel

DANIEL S.
MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

“I think Link is great at incorporating a lot of different people from a lot of different areas and working on their strengths to come together in harmony on numerous tasks and projects. Right after I started my supervisors put me in charge of designing a new hydraulic press. This really got me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to work with a lot of different engineers as well as employees out in production. It was great because I was given a lot of responsibility right away. Link really invests in its people. They pushed me by giving me bigger responsibilities and made sure I had all the tools and information I needed to complete my tasks as well as encouraged me to grow as an employee and as a person.”

SENIOR AT DORDT UNIVERSITY

Intern Josh

JOSH Z.
IT INTERN

“My favorite experience as an intern was the real-world application. Over the course of the internship I was able to learn four new programming languages, which I was unfamiliar with prior to my internship. I worked on a variety of projects from writing script to working on applications and tackled hardware and networking problems as well. By the end of the internship Link trusted me to solve problems on my own, and then present my projects to my supervisor.”
